# Red Points & Costs

This is the one page you need. What does a chat cost? An image? A Mood Snap? Everything that costs anything in redchat lives **right here, in one hub** — and every other help article links back to this page. Skim it. You don't have to memorize a thing.

> **Tip**: Just want the answer fast? Jump straight to the [Costs Table](#costs-table-extras) and [Free Daily Allotments](#free-daily-allotments-by-tier) below. Everything else is the "why" behind those numbers.

## What are Red Points (RP)?

Picture a **rechargeable transit card**. You load it once, and every ride pulls a little from the balance. When it's low, you top it up again — and whatever you loaded **stays there, with no expiry date**.

Red Points (we'll call them **RP**) are exactly that rechargeable card.

* RP are a **permanent currency**. They **never expire.** Top up today, use it six months from now — 1 RP is still 1 RP.
* RP are spent on two things:
  1. **Premium-model usage after you've used up your weekly Premium Allowance**
  2. **Extras** — image generation, Mood Snap unlocks, longer replies, and Auto Summary on Free/Silver

> **Why this matters**: Because RP never expire, there's no "use it or lose it" pressure. Top up when you want, spend when you want.

## The "Phone Plan" Model: Your Chat Never Stops

The easiest way to understand redchat's models is to think of a **phone plan**.

### The Default model = unlimited calls

Just like a plan with "unlimited base minutes," **chat on the Default model is unlimited on every tier** — Free users included (on Free it runs at standard, i.e. slightly slower, speed).

This is the **safety net that keeps your conversation alive.** No matter what, you can always keep chatting on the Default model.

### Premium / advanced models = your data allowance

Like the "monthly data" on a plan, premium and advanced models draw from a **weekly Premium Allowance**. That allowance **refills automatically every week.**

The allowance scales **relatively** by tier (there are no absolute numbers):

| Tier | Weekly Premium Allowance |
| -------- | ------------------------ |
| Free | Daily trial |
| Silver | Standard |
| Gold | 5x Standard |
| Platinum | 20x Standard |

### What happens when the allowance runs out?

Don't worry — **you are never hard-locked.** When your weekly allowance runs out, you have two choices:

1. **Keep going with RP** on the premium model, or
2. **Drop back to the free Default model** and just keep chatting.

> **Heads up**: Either way, the conversation doesn't stop. Running out of allowance does *not* mean being cut off. Spend RP, or flow right back into the Default model.

## How Charging Works

This is the part people wonder about most, so let's make it crystal clear. It's simpler than it sounds.

### Charged ONCE per message

Just like a restaurant bills your "order + the food" as one tab, RP is deducted **once for your send + the AI's reply, combined.**

* One charge when you send, then *another* when the reply lands — **that does NOT happen.**
* One message exchanged = one deduction. That's it.

### What spends RP faster?

Like fuel, **heavier settings burn through it faster:**

* **Deeper memory** — the more conversation the bot keeps in mind
* **Longer replies** — the longer the response
* **Bigger characters** — the more lore and setup a character carries

The larger these settings, the faster your allowance and RP get used up.

### We show the estimated cost before you send

> **Why this matters**: The app **shows you an estimated cost before you send.** No surprise charges. See the number, then send as-is — or dial a setting down to save. The choice is always yours.

## Costs Table (Extras)

The essentials at a glance. Here's what extras cost in RP.

| Feature | Cost |
| ----------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Image generation** | **300 RP** each |
| **Mood Snap unlock** | **50 RP** each |
| **Response length: Short / Medium / Long / Extended** | **Free to set** — a longer reply may use a bit more RP (all tiers) |
| **Auto Summary** | Free & Silver: **uses RP** / Gold & Platinum: **included (free)** |

> **Tip**: Setting any response length is free on every plan. A longer reply just generates more text, so on premium models it may use a bit more RP for that message — on the free Default model, longer replies still cost nothing. Bump it up whenever a longer reply is worth it.

## Free Daily Allotments (by Tier)

On top of the costs table, each tier comes with **free uses every day.** Once you've used those up, the per-use RP cost above kicks in.

| Feature | Free | Silver | Gold | Platinum |
| ------------------------------ | ---- | ------ | ------ | -------- |
| **Image generation** (per day) | 0 | 0 | **5** | **15** |
| **Mood Snap unlock** (per day) | 0 | **5** | **20** | **80** |

> **Heads up**: After your free dailies are gone, the standard rate applies — **300 RP for image generation, 50 RP for Mood Snap.** Your free uses reset each day. So on Free & Silver, image generation always costs 300 RP, and on Free, Mood Snap always costs 50 RP.

## What's Always Free

It's not all about spending — let's be just as clear about what **never costs a thing:**

* **Unlimited Default-model chat** — every tier, forever. Your conversation doesn't stop.
* **Short replies** — free on every tier.
* **Lorebook** — **costs no RP on any plan**, with up to 5 trigger keywords per entry. The entry count per character is tier-based: **Free & Silver up to 5 entries, Gold & Platinum up to 100 entries** — upgrade to Gold for far more lore room. **Lorebook itself costs no RP.**
* **Creating and using Personas** — making and using personas is free.

> **Why this matters**: Lorebook (the core of a rich character memory) and Personas (which define *you*) are yours to use freely, with zero cost worries. No need to cut corners here.

***

## How to Get More RP

It's simple.

* **Top up anytime in the app.** Add exactly as much as you need, when you need it.
* The RP you add **never expires.** There's no rush to spend it.

> **Tip**: RP works like a transit card — load it once and it won't vanish, so you can top up without pressure and spend at your own pace.

## FAQ

**Q. Do I get charged twice for a long reply?** A. No. RP is deducted **once per message** (your send + the AI reply, combined). A longer reply just makes that single deduction a bit larger — it never charges you twice. The length setting itself is free to choose on every plan; a longer answer simply uses a little more RP on that message on premium models (on the free Default model it still costs nothing).

**Q. What happens at 0 RP?** A. Your chat doesn't stop. You **flow right into the free Default model** and keep talking. When you want premium models or extras again, top up then. **There's no hard lock.**

**Q. Does Lorebook cost RP?** A. No. **Lorebook costs no RP on any plan.** The entry count is tier-based: **Free & Silver up to 5 entries per character, Gold & Platinum up to 100 entries per character** — upgrade to Gold for far more lore room. Build out a rich memory with no cost worries.

**Q. Is the Default model really unlimited?** A. Yes. **Default-model chat is unlimited on every tier** (Free runs at standard speed). This is what keeps your conversation alive at all times.

**Q. What happens when my free daily allotments run out?** A. From then on, the standard RP rate applies (300 RP per image, 50 RP per Mood Snap). They reset the next day.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://powerfan-1.gitbook.io/redchat.app/guides/red-points-and-costs.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
